To become a member, please fill in the appropriate application form, on the Become a Member page. Please make sure that you indicate whether you want to be a regular or associate member.

Conference

With two sessions a year, our members are given opportunities to further their education and network with not only other fire inspectors in the province but also individuals involved in fire safety.

Courses

FIANS provides education for individuals to achieve their level 1 and 2 certification.

Bylaws

These were originally passed at our annual general meeting held in Halifax on May 2014, and then amended on October 2021.

President’s Message

The Fire Inspectors Association of Nova Scotia (FIANS) is a provincial association that was founded in 1994 as a not for profit organization and represents individuals and organizations that are dedicated to saving lives and property through the prevention of fires.

Fast Track

All classes are scheduled to be held at the Office of the Fire Marshal in Dartmouth (250 Baker Drive – Entrance C – Second floor).  All classes will be 3 days in duration and will comprise 2.5 days of learning and an exam on the final afternoon.

AGM Notice

In accordance with the FIANS bylaws, the following individuals have let their name stand for officer positions at the upcoming Annual General Meeting being held May 7th at the Inverary Inn in Baddeck. Both individuals meet the criteria required. As such,

Daniel Gaudet will be acclaimed as Vice President for his second term

and

Dave Winship will be acclaimed as Treasurer.
