Hello and welcome to the Fire Inspectors Association of Nova Scotia. I am glad that you have found our website and hope that you can find the information you are looking for in these pages.

This is normally where you would read a message from our President Alfred Doucet however Alfred passed away quite suddenly at the end of May so I am stepping up and trying to fill his boots at this time. Alfred’s FIANS family is grieving along with his family and his work colleagues. FIANS recognizes the contribution he made not only to our association but also to the fields of fire and building safety throughout his 27 year career with the Municipality of Digby. While we are saddened by his passing, we are happy that we had the chance to know and work with him for so many years. He will be greatly missed.

As for the activities of the association, we recently help our 2022 spring conference in Halifax where over 50 members participated in training sessions to further improve their knowledge of fire inspection. We were happy to have Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Paul LaFleche join us for our President’s dinner during the conference. This gave both our members and the Deputy Minister a chance to further understand the worlds of politics and fire safety. As we wrap our spring events, we are turning our mind to the fall conference and I hope to have details to announce in the very near future. Check this page regularly for updates.

If you require further information about our programming or FIANS in general, please reach out to the local representatives listed herein and / or our administrative support email address.

Thank you for visiting our website. We are always here for our members and others in the community to help better understand the fire inspection field. Stay safe.
