  • DSC 9932Conferences With two sessions a year, our members are given opportunities to further their training and network with not only other fire inspectors in the province but also individuals involved in fire safety

  • 008 Courses FIANS provides training for individuals to achieve their level 1 and 2 certification. Delivery includes a home study component as well as in class training sessions and site visits.

Recent Updates?

Central local:
While the Central local is not particularly active at the local level, the members are very active within the association.  They regularly participate in the spring and fall training conferences and are diligent about staying in touch with the direction of FIANS and other members of the association.

Highland local:
The Highland local meets on a regular basis throughout the year to discuss code related topics and issues of interest to the members. Over the next year, we hope to incorporate some guest speakers into our meetings so our members can get the latest industry information.

Island local:
The Cape Breton local helps members provide enforcement, advice and recommendations through the Fire Safety Act to fire departments, police, ministries, local government, and the public on fire related matters. Our local meets regularly to discuss these matters and how they concern different areas with in Cape Breton.

South Shore local:
Our local meets on a regular basis, we discuss and give clarification on any fire safety concern that our members have encountered on the job. Our goal is to make our local businesses safe, educate people on fire safety and to help save lives.

Valley local:
The Valley local is a group of dedicated fire officials who meet quarterly to discuss relevant issues of the day and to help align inspection requirements amongst our municipalities. Our goal is to achieve and improve fire and life safety for all.
